We are impressed! They are true professionals and very gracious. The winery made everything right for us, including an invitation tor a return visit. When we posted our review to share our experience, Morgan at Opus One immediately contacted us and wanted to better understand our experience and she was very apologetic. The service was very nice and our host was a young fellow from France who was very pleasant.īut the 20 Opus One and the second label of Opus One tasted off! Each had a rather tinny flavor and were very tannic. They are remodeling and expanding the tasting area, so we had a tasting in a smaller but nicely decorated room set up for tasting with hightop tables and some regular tables and chairs. We were really excited to taste Opus One at their Napa winery last November. We were not fond of the chef's selection (crackers and nuts) to accompany our tasting, but that did not detract from our experience in any way. We tasted black cherry and chocolate notes and loved it so much that we purchased a bottle to enjoy on our 40th wedding anniversary next year. Opus One only creates red blend wines and they are very expensive, but worth it because they know how to age and blend delicious and elegant wines. All of the staff were welcoming and acted in a professional manner, but we were made to feel comfortable throughout the experience. When we arrived early for our tasting, we were worried after seeing the opulent tasting room and beautifully manicured grounds that the place might be too stuffy and pretentious for us. He was very knowledgeable, as you might expect, but in a warm and friendly manner. Our time there was heightened by having Brendon as our specialist. A truly 5 star experience just begins to tell the story of our first visit and wine tasting at Opus One Winery.
